Student Policies



Student Requirements for Checking Out Books

  • All fees must be paid
  • Must have a validated Student ID
  • Must be registered for the course for which the rental book is adopted

  • All fees must be paid
  • Must have a validated Student ID
  • Must be registered for the course for which the rental book is adopted
  • Rental books can be shipped if requested via phone at (985) 549-3780. Shipping charges will be posted to the student's Southeastern account.

 

Email Notifications

  • Check your email regularly for messages from Textbook Rental
  • Email notifications are sent to your official email address each day a book is issued to your account
  • Email notifications are sent to your official email address throughout the semester providing book return information

 

Student Fees

  • $45 per course that require a rental fee
  • $5.00 rental fee for research projects, comprehensive and CLEP exams, based on availability

 

Optional Purchase of Books

  • Students do have the option of purchasing rental textbooks
  • Rental fees will be refunded for textbooks purchased from Textbook Rental within the first three weeks of classes
  • If a course requires two textbooks and only one book is purchased, the rental fee will not be refunded

 

Policies Regarding Marking in Books

  • Light to moderate highlighting and underlining is acceptable
  • Excessive marking in new books and markings which appear to be intentional damagemay be unacceptable
  • Determination of excessive marking is at the discretion of Textbook Rental

 

Damaged Books

  • Mildew, wet, or torn books are not acceptable
  • Books without a barcode are considered damaged and are not acceptable

 

Drop Boxes Available

  • Available for use during times that the Textbook Rental office is closed
  • Automatically locks when full
  • If box is full, DO NOT leave books outside; you must either return the books to the Textbook Rental office or use the drop box when not full
  • Dropped books are checked in by barcode only (rather than Student ID)
  • Books returned through Drop Box are checked in the following business day

 

LEONet - View My Books

  • Check your LEONet - View My Books prior to returning books and immediately following to make sure that all books are returned
  • Check your LEONet - View My Books for return deadlines

 

Fines

  • Fines will be assessed for books returned on the 2nd business day through the 5th business day following the last day of final exams
  • Any late book not returned by the 5th business day following the last day of final exams MUST BE PURCHASED
