Academics & Research

At Southeastern, academics come first! Classes are kept small, and in front of the classroom you'll almost always see a professor; 99 percent of classes are taught by faculty, not graduate students. Southeastern currently offers 52 undergraduate and 18 graduate degree programs. Our accreditation rate is one of the highest in the state, with all graduate programs and 97 percent of undergraduate programs nationally accredited. And in every degree program, students have the opportunity to pursue an honors curriculum.

A dedication to research by a strong faculty complements Southeastern's academic program. Whether in biology and chemistry labs, in the field at the university's Turtle Cove Environmental Research Station, or in the stacks of some of the world's most renowned libraries, Southeastern faculty are performing valuable scientific research. Grants from prestigious foundations, the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, the Environmental Protection Agency, and many other sources help to fund cutting-edge research. And working closely with the faculty are undergraduate students, performing work that in many universities is reserved only for graduate students.
