About Physical Plant Services
Below is a brief descriptionabout services provided by the Physical Plant.
Vehicles
PPS has fleet vehicles available for use, please visit our Vehicle web page for further details.
Energy Management/Controls
The Energy Management/Controls shop is responsible for providingair conditioningor heat to all buildings that are monitored by our energy management system. Please visit the Energy Management/Controls page for more information.
Carpentry Shop
The carpentry shop provides routine maintenance such as replacing stained ceiling tiles, repairing broken windows and doors, toilet paper and paper towel holders, minor roof repairs, roof maintenance, etc.
Key and Lock Shop
The key and lock shopprovides maintenance on all locks on campus, as well as making keys, name plates and door signs.
The key and lock shop also provides sound set up for campus activities. If you need sound set up, please submit the service request two weeks in advance. Ifthe event is outside of the Physical Plant Services operating hours, the requesting party must provide a budget number for Overtime charges. We are unable to provide sound set up for Student Organizations.
Paint Shop
The paint shop makes repairs to all wall surfaces and does touch-up and room painting.
Electric Shop
The electrical shop provides routine maintenance in the buildings on campus. This includes replacing bulbs, repairing outlets and resetting the breakers.
Mechanic Shop
The mechanic shop provides the maintenance on all university fleet vehicles, university golf carts and generators.
Plumbing and Welding Shop
The plumbing and welding shop provides routine maintenance and repairs on campus, including faucets, commodes and drains. The welding shop builds gates and makes any metal repairs on campus.
Moving Shop
The moving shop can provide tables, chairs and trash cans for events on campus. The requesting party must provide a budget number to charge for trash boxes and trash liners. In the event that all tables and chairs provided are not accounted for, the requesting party budget may be charged for the missing items.
Also, the movers move furniture to different areas on campus. If you need the movers for an event, please submit a service request two weeks in advance.
Landscape and Grounds
Landscape and grounds is responsible for all landscaping and the grounds of the campus. Since grounds are part of retention and recruiting it is very important to maintain the highest aesthetic value possible.
Custodial Shop
The custodial shop provides custodial services to most buildings on campus. Thecustodial shop dutiesconsist of all interior cleaning of these buildings. Some of the duties include emptying trash cans, servicing restrooms, sweeping and mopping floors.
HVAC Shop
The HVAC shop provides routine maintenance on all air conditioners, heaters, refrigerators, ice machines andfume hoodson campus.
Pest Control
The campus pest control is completed by an outside contractor.
