All About CAB The Campus Activities Board is a direct avenue to an exciting variety of entertainment. We sponsor outdoor activities, as well as lectures from prominent speakers. Add into this mix the Miss Southeastern Pageant, Movie Nights, Comedians, Southeastern Star and numerous special events, and you have CAB.
CAB has sponsored the Miss Southeastern pageant since the 1970's. Each Miss Southeastern goes on to compete in the Miss Louisiana pageant. She gets to participate in many exciting events throughout the year as she represents Southeastern. Just this September, our new Miss Southeastern, Jennifer Jarreau, was crowned.
Our first ever Southeastern Star was selected in Fall 2003. Similar to American Idol, many contestants were put before a panel of judges and voted on by their own peers. Most recently, the competition began with over 100 contestants and boiled down to our winner, Ben Black. Gumbo Ya Ya During Homecoming Week in the Fall, CAB sponsors the traditional Gumbo Ya Ya. Over 3,000 students enjoy gumbo, bread, soft drinks and cake in the Student Union Park. It also features different entertainment each year such as inflatables, wax hands, and music. Strawberry Jubilee Every spring since 1980, the Campus Activities Board has sponsored Strawberry Jubilee. This event provides the Southeastern community with free food and entertainment. Our Miss Southeastern assists with cutting the traditional strawberry cake. Also, student organizations setup tables and sell various items. |
