Mission Statement
The Office for Student Engagement encourages and facilitates student engagement in student organizations including Student Government Association and Greek letter organizations, leadership development, and participation in campus-wide events and community service.
The Office for Student Engagement is committed to providing development opportunities for all students and challenges them to become empowered, motivated, and experienced leaders and citizens through a comprehensive co-curricular experience.
Weekly Announcements
April 30th through May 6th, 2012
- All organizations must submit an end of the semester report to the Office for Student Engagement by May 4th at 12:30pm. Reports can be found at http://www.selu.edu/admin/stu_orgs/student_res/index.html
- SUMMER ORIENTATIONS!! All organizations that are interested in participating in summer orientations must have one representative attend a meeting on Tuesday May 1st at 5pm in the Pennington Center, Room 107. Only organizations that attend this meeting will be allowed to participate in summer orientation!
- Need a Mother's day gift? SLU Ceramics Club aka The Naked Gorilla Society will host a Pottery sale in the student union breezeway from April 30-May 1.There will be cups, bowls, plates, platters, pitchers, teapots, bottles, vases, planters, birdhouses, casseroles, jars, boxes, and sculpture. Everything is made on campus by students and faculty.
- The Division for Student Affairs Convocation will be Wednesday, May 2nd at 7pm in 12 Oaks.
- Best Buddies is working on summer games for Special Olympics. They will be held at Southeastern May 18-20 (Friday-Sunday). This is is the BIGGEST event of the year. They need LOTS of help! This event will be TONS of fun and a dance for all athletes and volunteers will be held the last day of competition :) The deadline for sign ups will be Friday, April 27 at 12:30 pm. A meeting will be held Tuesday, May 1st @ 6 pm in the SU annex. If you have any questions till then please contact Marci Gaines at 225-305-2428 or Marci.Gaines@selu.edu.
- Preparations for the Fall 2012 semester are underway and University Housing is seeking your help with welcoming our new class of Lions. Student organizations are invited to participate as volunteers for “Move-in Mania”, our fun filled check-in day for new Lions, on Sunday, August 12, 2012 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in the Pennington Student Activity Center. Volunteers will be stationed throughout our Residential Community to welcome and help our students move into their new homes. This year, we would like to request your organization to help with one of our two volunteer shifts: (A) 8am- 12:30pm or (B) 12:00pm- 3:30pm. If your organization is interested in helping or has questions about the event, please email Amanda Robbins in University Housing, Amanda.Robbins@selu.edu, by May 15th.
- Check out the new race that the REC on campus is hosting. It is called Mudder MAYhem and it will be held on Friday May 4th at 6:00pm at North Oak Park. It only costs $15 to run, get a t-shirt, and free food and LIVE music after the race! The race will also include a few obstacle courses as well as some mud fun! Hope you can all make it out! If you have any questions regarding the race please contact: Megan.mast@selu.edu. The entry form can be obtained from the gym.
- Ladies of Green and Gold is now doing a membership drive. Any ladies interested in joining a fun community service organization on campus email me, Renita.Newton@selu.edu or vice president, Kimberly.Jasper@selu.edu.
