Teacher Workshops
Because Turtle Cove was severly damaged in Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, weekend-long teacher workshops have been postponed until summer 2010.
However, we don't have to wait until a weekend-long workshop is possible. We have offered several single-day workshops, which include canoeing,
digital photography, using art to develop and refine scientific methods, and practicing field collection techniques.
If you are interested in these single-day workshops or have suggestions for other workshop activities, contact Rob Moreau [rmoreau@selu.edu]. He can add you to the Turtle Cove mailing list or provide you with more information about future workshops.
The Turtle Cove teacher workshops are aligned with the National Science Education Standards for both course content as well as professional development for K-12 teachers. Our workshops have long been associated with the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Association, and we maintain close relationships with several other environmental education organizations. You will see us at the Louisiana Science Teacher's Association conferences, and often the NSTA as well, always seeking to improve how we relate to students and teachers in southeast Louisiana.
