Robert Moreau, Manager | rmoreau@selu.edu | 985.549.5008
Rob has served at Turtle Cove since 1997, and he became the station's manager in 2001. In addition to overseeing the daily operations, financial matters, and public outreach of Turtle Cove, Rob is the host of Backyard Wonders, a show that highlights the "natural wonders of the North Shore" in Louisiana. He also teaches two environmental classes at Southeastern: Environmental Management (MGMT 695/GBIO 690, co-listed with the Biological Sciences and Business Departments) and Environmental Awareness (GBIO 281, offered through the Biological Sciences Department).
His research focuses on the socio-economic impacts of humans interacting with their environment and environmental management, including business, historical, and wetland issues. Rob earned a doctorate in Land Resources from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1996, a Master's in Environmental Science from Louisiana State University in 1992, and a Bachelor's in Accounting/Internal Auditing also from Louisiana State University in 1988.
Michael Greene, Biologist on Staff | mgreene@selu.edu | 985.549.3600
Michael has served at Turtle Cove since 1989, and he became the biologist on staff in 2002. He handles public outreach and education, coordinating teacher workshops and fieldtrips for students of all ages (Kindergarten through college). He also serves as liaison between community members and the researchers investigating the local wetlands. Michael has a Master's in Zoology (Wetlands Biology, 1994) and a Bachelor's in Zoology (Aquatic Biology, 1993), both degrees from Southeastern Louisiana University.
Hayden Reno, Caretaker & Facilities Technician | hreno@selu.edu | 985.507.7710
Since 1986, Hayden has been the main force who keeps Turtle Cove running smoothly. He is in charge of the station's boats, equipment, and facilities, and he regularly inspects all of these to ensure everyone's safety. Hayden also tells lots of stories about the history of the swamp and can identify (and probably catch) anything and everything crawling, oozing, and swimming in the area. His culinary skills are well known and highly regarded, especially when he fries fresh catfish or slowly simmers gumbo.
Fred Stouder, Marsh Restoration Coordinator | fstouder@selu.edu | 985.549.5355
Fred has served with Turtle Cove since 1994. He has a Bachelor's in Biology (1996) from Southeastern Louisiana University. In 1995, he began managing a large federal grant for a marsh restoration project comprised of two major activities: 1) deploying Christmas trees to build sediment levees and 2) planting new seedlings to regrow the cypress forests that once dominated the region. Email Fred if you'd like to help with these activities.
Lacy Landrum, Tech Transfer Specialist | lacy.landrum@selu.edu | 985.549.2268

She ensures that the outreach materials communicate effectively with different audiences, especially people with limited scientific knowledge. She has a doctorate in Technical Writing (2008) from Oklahoma State University, a Master's in English (2000) from Texas Tech University and a Bachelor's in Sociology (1998) also from Texas Tech.
