A Message from Dr. Cynthia Elliott, Interim Department Head
Welcome to the home page for the Department of Teaching and Learning!
The mission of the Department of Teaching & Learning is to provide a quality program through which teacher candidates demonstrate the knowledge, skills and dispositions needed to have a positive impact on student achievement in grades PK-12.
Southeastern was the first university in Louisiana to institute a "teacher guarantee" program. In addition to traditional programs to prepare teachers, the Department also offers two alternative routes to certification, one of which concludes with a masters degree.
The Department works closely with colleagues in the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and the College of Science and Technology to provide appropriate, intensive field experience opportunities for students.
