Welcome to the Department of Biological Sciences at Southeastern Louisiana University. The Department offers course work in a wide variety of disciplines and has many strong research programs that are well funded. We serve over 12,000 students each year in modern facilities with cutting edge instrumentation, and we emphasize inquiry-based, hands-on instruction. The Department has 43 full-time faculty and has some 900 undergraduate majors and 30 graduate students.

Our goal is to attain national and international prominence through integrating undergraduate and graduate education with multidisciplinary research programs. Through our educational, research and outreach activities, the Department will help achieve the strategic mission of Southeastern Louisiana University in leading the educational development of the region in the life sciences.
