Research at Southeastern

Research at Southeastern enhances learning opportunities for our students and enriches scholarly experiences for faculty.  Whether in biochemistry labs examining the West Nile Virus, out in the marsh testing methods to combat the loss of wetlands, on the Internet documenting the new social media or at a piano rescuing from obscurity beautiful compositions inspired by Louisiana, Southeastern faculty are performing valuable research. Their work not only enhances learning and scholarship, but also contributes to the economic development and culture of our region and Louisiana.  Grants from prestigious foundations, the Environmental Protection Agency, the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, and the Louisiana Board of Regents and many other sources help to fund cutting-edge research.  And working closely with our faculty are undergraduate students, performing work that in many universities is reserved only for graduate students.
