Fair Day Schedule

Fair Day Schedule 2010

The date of the Regional Fair is Wednesday, March 17th, 2010 in the University Center on Southeastern’s campus.  You can bring your projects into the University Center at Gate 3.  Take a left at the light on W. University Ave. onto North General Pershing.  Gate 3 is on your left.  However, please park behind the U.C.  Continue down North General Pershing and take the first left into the back parking lot. Click here for directions to the U.C.

7:30 a.m.  Doors open to the University Center for setting up projects. (I will post after the deadline! Click here for a layout of projects.)  You can see which table your project will be on.  All projects requiring electricity are located on the tables nearest the information table and the microphone platform. In the morning: Coffee, juice, donuts, muffins, etc. are provided only for teachers and parents on the Upper Level St. Tammany Room 203B.

8:30 a.m.  Judging of projects. All students must remain with their projects until 11:30 or an announcement is made.  No parents or teachers will be allowed in the project area at this time.  Please inform your students to remain with their projects during the judging, some projects may be judged more than once.  That is up to the discretion of the judges. Their decisions are final.  Every project must be judged at least once.  I will make an announcement around 11:00 for any students who have not been judged to let me know.  For safety reasons, no running, climbing, or playing on, under, or around the tables.  (No sitting on the tables.)  No chairs are allowed on the floor unless there is a medical reason.  If so, please contact me on the day of the fair.  This allows the judges to move through the aisles.  No food or drinks allowed on the University Center floor. Someone could accidentally spill their drink on a neighbor's project.  Students may bring an ipod, game system or even better a book, but it is their responsibility to keep up with them.  No radios please.  Failure to observe these rules may lead to disqualification.

11:30 a.m.  Lunch break.  No one will be dismissed for lunch prior to 11:30 because judging is still taking place.  If judges finish earlier, I will make an announcement and dismiss then.  Ribbons will be distributed during lunch.  I will announce when students can return to their projects.  We can't have students, teachers, or parents on the U.C. floor during ribbon distribution.  All 1st and 2nd place winners will receive a packet about State Fair by their projects.  No food or drinks allowed on the University Center floor.  You may bring your own lunch, go off campus, or eat on campus.  Discount Coupons may be available if you wish to eat on campus in the Lion’s Den.  The Lion’s Den is located in the Student Union.  They provide a variety of food such as pizza, pasta, Burger King, hot meals, salads, etc. Exit the University Center Gate 3 and walk under the University Ave pedestrian pass onto the main campus.  Pass the Pennington Activity Center, walk between D. Vickers Hall and the Library.  The Student Union is straight ahead.  Click here for a campus map.

12:30   Only 1st place winners need to remain with their projects for Grand Prize Judging and Distribution of Plaques.  (until around 2 p.m.)  1st Place Winners must be present to be judged for the Grand Prize Competition. All other projects can pack up and return to their schools.
