Department of Psychology
Welcome to the Department of Psychology.
The Psychology Department at Southeastern Louisiana University offers a B.A. in Psychology with a strong emphasis on the development of research and analytical skills. In addition to this, a diverse range of class offerings are available in areas such as: Social, Cognitive, Personality, Life-span development, Clinical and Abnormal, Physiological, Perception, and Evolutionary Psychology. The Department also offers an honors track that especially designed to foster mentorship between faculty and students. All honors students work one-on-one with a faculty member on a research project to fulfill the honors thesis requirement. The Department also offers a terminal Master of Arts in general experimental Psychology.
The Department serves over 400 undergraduate majors and 20 graduate students. Faculty in Psychology are involved in a wide range of both basic and applied research covering such topics as: eye witness memory, cultural styles of childrearing, stereotyping, memory for bizarre events, and the evolution of religion.
