Showcase, Saturday, October 25, 2008 from 8:30am-1pm

SHOWCASE (Sat. Oct. 25, 8:30 am to 1 pm) We have reserved the KIVA at SLU for our October Showcase, where we invite area teachers to attend a day of workshops and poster presentations on the Teaching of Writing led by SLWP Teacher Consultants. This is an important opportunity for Teacher Consultants from the latest Summer Institute to "show their stuff" and to help out the cause of promoting the teaching of writing and SLWP. We are looking for volunteers for the following:
* mini-workshops, based on your demos, on teaching writing (50 min. long), * panels on various subjects (such as a panel for pre-service teachers) * poster presentations on teaching writing (1-on-1, could be based on your demo) * help in other ways such as at the registration table, refreshments, etc.
We really rely on teachers from our most recent Institute for the Showcase, so we hope you will volunteer to help in one of these ways. Volunteers receive free admission for a colleague, a certificate verifying their participation in this 4 hour professional development event (usually accepted by parishes for CLU's and Banking hours), as well our hearty thanks. This is also a chance to meet, write, and work alongside SLWP Teacher Consultants from other Institutes. To participate, please email me ASAP, and I can give you specifics on what we need and how you could help out most. <rlouth@southeastern.edu>
