Albertson’s to host Southeastern Tailgate Kickoff event Sept. 7

HAMMOND –As part of Southeastern Louisiana University's Green and Gold Week, Albertson's is hosting a Lion Tailgating Kickoff event on Friday, Sept. 7, at 5 p.m.
Green and Gold Week is the celebration of all things Southeastern leading up to the first Lion home football game of the season on Sept. 8 against South Dakota State at 7 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium.
Erin Moore Cowser, executive director of public and governmental affairs, said the event will feature the Spirit of the Southland Band, Roomie, cheerleaders and Lionettes performing. Albertson's is also supplying free hamburgers or hotdogs, chips and drinks, while supplies last, to student-athletes who show their Southeastern IDs.
"There will be free samples and giveaways form vendors throughout the store and Southeastern apparel will be 50 percent off during the event for those who clip special Lions coupons from the weekly grocery circular," Cowser said. "Customers will also get to spin the Southeastern Spirit Wheel and win green and gold prizes. Come out and support our home team and our community partner, Albertson's."
Throughout the football season, Albertson's is offering a 10 percent discount on groceries on Southeastern football game days to customers who wear Lion shirts when shopping, Cowser added.
