HAMMOND – A U.S. Marine Corps major will present the Southeastern Louisiana University Veterans Day Lecture at 11 a.m. Monday (Nov. 12) in the Student Union Theatre.

Major Michael Pretus will present "The Second Battle of Fallujah: November – December 2004," in which he will describe his experiences in combat. The presentation is sponsored by the Department of History and Political Science and is free and open to the public.

In addition to a distinguished career as an officer in the Marine Corps, Pretus was recently selected from among hundreds of applicants for a special program in which he will pursue a master of arts degree in history at Southeastern and then teach at the U.S. Navy War College.

"We are delighted to have Major Pretus in the master of arts in history program at Southeastern and are honored he has agreed to discuss his experience in the Second Battle of Fallujah for the benefit of our students, faculty, staff, and community," said William Robison, head of the Department of History and Political Science.
