Southeastern’s Division of Extended Studies offers ACT Prep Course

      HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University's Division of Extended Studies is offering the ACT Preparation Course on its main campus and regional locations. Designed to assist high school students in developing skills to improve their ACT scores, the prep course will emphasize mathematics and English.
     "This is a wonderful opportunity for students who want to get help with their math and English skills," said Tom Dawsey, recruiting and marketing manager. "Our instructors also do a great job of giving students tips on test taking skills that can help improve their scores."
     The five-week offerings will be held on Southeastern's main campus in Hammond, at the Livingston Literacy and Technology Center, 9261 Florida Boulevard in Walker, and the St. Tammany Center, 21454 Koop Drive, in Mandeville.
     In Hammond Amy Gibson will teach three sessions of the ACT Prep Course. The first session will consist of four Monday classes with the final class being held on Wednesday. The other two sessions will be held on Mondays. These courses will take place from 5 – 7 p.m. at a cost of $250 with all materials covered. Dates of the sessions include: Session 1- August 20 – September 5; Session 2- September 24 – October 22; Session 3- November 5– December 3.
     The two sessions of the ACT Prep Course in Walker will also be taught by Gibson. These courses will take place from 5 – 7 p.m. at a cost of $250 with all materials covered. All Walker classes will be held on Thursdays. Dates of the sessions include: Session 1- September 20 – October 25; Session 2- November 1 – December 6.
     Taught by Eugenie Martin and Dr. Patricia Edmiston, the Mandeville ACT course is composed of three sessions. The first two sessions will consist of four Thursday classes and a Tuesday offering, with the third session being held on Thursdays. All sessions will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. at a cost of $275, which includes the textbook. Dates of the sessions include: Session 1- August 16 – September 6; Session 2- September 27 – October 25; Session 3- November 1 – December 6.
