Southeastern to offer test preparation course partially on line

     HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University will offer a Society for Human Resource Management Learning System test preparation course as a hybrid on-line offering beginning April 20.

     Offered through the Division of Extended Studies, the course is designed for individuals taking SHRM tests for certification as Professional in Human Resources and Senior Professional in Human Resources.

     The course will be taught by human resource specialist Fran Norwood. The 36-hour course,will meet eight times in a classroom setting, with the remaining 14 hours being hosted on-line. Class meetings will be held on Fridays at Southeastern's St. Tammany Center, 21454 Koop Drive, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

     The cost is $1,095, and students will receive 3.5 continuing education credits (CEUs) for completing the course.

     "Students will cover materials corresponding to the six functional areas as defined by the Human Resources Certification Institute: strategic management, workforce planning and employment, human resource development, total rewards, employee and labor relations, and risk management," said Tom Dawsey, Extended Studies marketing and recruiting manager. "Dr. Norwood is a seasoned business professional with expertise in both large and small business organizations as well as educational settings."
