Assignment of Web Addresses
The Web CMS Coordinator’s Office maintains the organizational structure of the Southeastern Louisiana University Website. This includes, but is not limited to, where each department site is placed in the hierarchy and the address that may be used to reference each site.
In order to preserve and promote Southeastern’s Web presence, all University academic and administrative units, as well as all University supported organizations, centers, and institutes must be hosted within the selu.edu domain (e.g., selu.edu/something). The only exceptions allowed are for University units with a significant community outreach mission and virtually hosted sites with non-standard domains.
Sub-domains (e.g., math.selu.edu) are not permitted, however short URL’s (redirects) can be created upon request.
Short URLs (e.g., www.selu.edu/math) can be created for any University academic or administrative unit, University supported organization, center, or institute. For more detail please visit the Short URL information page.
Virtually hosted sites on Southeastern Web servers are restricted to non-profit University affiliated organizations that enhance or further the University’s mission. For more detail please visit the Virtual Host information page.
Southeastern’s Web servers are to be used to support the academic and research mission of the University. Thus, Web pages of a personal nature should not reside on any Southeastern Web server. Faculty, staff, and students desiring to publish Web pages of a personal nature should seek Web space through other means.
