The instructions below will show you how to create a new Web page using Collage's Classic View.
How to Create a New Web Page in Collage's Classic View
1. After logging into Collage and accessing the Classic View, click the Contents tab.
The Contents tab is located in the top left of Collage’s Classic view.

2. Navigate to your site folder in the left navigation.

Click on the folder name and open the folder/sub-folders
for the area you wish to include the new web page.
Your folder and its contents should appear on the right side of your Collage Classic view
page when you click on the name of your folder.
3. Click the New Folder button.

4. Complete the New Folder box:
Select thefolder type, if applicable.Key in the file name for your new document. Your file name should be all lowercase with no caps, spaces, or special characters.Key in the description of the page. The description field should describe the contents of the page.Click the OK button.

COLLAGE TIP: Document names should always be lower case, no caps, no spaces, and no special characters. You will want your name to be short and abbreviated, but understandable. If this is the only file in the folder, you may choose to use "index" as your file name. |
5. Your new page will open in Collage's page editor.

6. Complete the Metadatafor the new page.
Click the Metadatabutton located on the tool bar across the top of the page.
Complete the fields in the Metadata box. Metadata fields may be different, based on the type of page you are creating as well as your unit's role with the university.
Click the OK button. Collage should indicate that the Metadata was applied.Click the OK button again.

COLLAGE TIP: Any fields with the red ! mark indicates a required field. You must complete these fields in order to be able to save your page and exit the page editor. |
Some of the metadata fields may include the following fields. For more information on Metadata fields, see the Dictionary of Collage Terms.
- Name:
The information you key into the Name field will be what appears on the browser heading.
- Description:
In the Description field, describe your Web page and its content.

Contact_Info:
If you would like your page to include a Contact Info box in the bottom right corner of your page, you should select Yes.
- site_root_path:
Indicate the path to your home page by keying in the folder directory in which the home page for your unit resides.
- Page_Title:
Key in the Page_Title for your new Web page. Page_Title populates your banner heading for the page and is the text used in creating your left navigation menu. You want to make sure that what you key into the Page_Title field is concise and understandable. In this field you may use caps, spaces, etc.
- Keywords:
Key in any terms that a person might use to search for your page. Separate your keywords with a comma and a space.
- Acad_Department:
If your unit is an academic department, choose the correct Acad_Department by clicking the drop down arrow and clicking on your unit's academic department. If your unit is not an academic department, nor reports to an academic department, choose None.
- Acad_College:
If your unit is an academic college, or an academic department or other unit that reports to a college, choose the correct Acad_College by clicking the drop down arrow and selecting your unit's academic college. If your unit does not report to an academic college, choose None.

Highlight_Box:
Indicate if your page will contain a Highlight_Box. You may choose between a highlight box that contains image and text, a box that is text only, or a box that has no border. (You would choose no border if you have a graphic/image that you would like to place on the right side of your page and do not want a border around the image.) If the page will not include a Highlight Box, your choice should be None.
- Is_SubNavigation:
The Is_SubNavigation field is where you will indicate whether or not you wish for the page to be included in your left navigation menu. If you wish for the page to be included in your naviagation menu, choose Yes.
- Nav_Priority:
The Nav_Priority field indicates the order you want your pages to be listed in your navigation menu. For instance, choosing 01 will make the page first in your navigation menu list, 02 will make it second in the list, and so on. If you chose No in the Is_SubNavigation field, this field will have no effect on anything, and you can leave it at its default setting.
7. Key in your content in the content fields.
The Page Title and Subtitle fields are pre-formatted based upon your color scheme and template choice.
The Body Content field may be formatted as you choose. You may also insert images, tables, and create links in the Body Content field. For more information on formatting your type, inserting images and tables, and creating links, see How to Enter and Format Content on your Web Page.

8. Click the Save button on the toolbar to save your work when you are finished.

9. Click the Exit button on the toolbar to close the page.
