HAMMOND – The Louisiana Small Business Development Center (LSBDC) at Southeastern Louisiana University will offer a seminar on Louisiana financial incentives on Thursday, June 13, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Sponsored by Louisiana Economic Development, Tangipahoa Economic Development and the Amite Chamber of Commerce, the free seminar will be held at the Tangipahoa Parish Library main branch, located at 204 N.E. Central Ave. in Amite.
Sandy Summers, assistant director of the Southeastern SBDC, said tax incentive programs are offered in Louisiana for new and existing companies that are expanding and creating job opportunities. The incentives are typically in the form of sales and use tax rebates, tax credits, and tax exemptions.
"This seminar will provide a detailed overview that will include program rules and application processes for Enterprise Zone, Industrial Tax Exemption, Restoration Tax Abatement, Small Business Loan Guaranty, and Quality Jobs," she said. "The event will also include time to help de-mystify the Enterprise Zone Employee Certification Reports and Quality Jobs Annual Certification Reports. Program managers will spend time with each attendee to answer questions and provide some clarity on these reports."
Summers said the class is open to small business owners, certified public accountants, bankers and potential business owners interested in learning how to take advantage of financial incentives provided through the state. Attendees should also bring their Annual Certification Report (ACR) to the clinic.
There is no cost to attend the event; however, pre-registration is preferred, as seating is limited. For more information, contact LSBDC Southeastern at 985-549-3831. Online registration is available at www.lsbdc.org.
