Southeastern art gallery fall exhibit opens Thursday

HAMMOND – The Contemporary Art Gallery at Southeastern Louisiana University will open its
first exhibition Thursday, Aug. 29. Titled "Man and Nature," the exhibit will remain
open through Oct. 1.
Opening night includes a reception at the gallery from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
"This national exhibition examines man's complex relationship to the natural
world," said Dale Newkirk, associate professor and gallery director. "The exhibition
will include paintings, photography, sculpture, video art and installations."
Artists featured in the exhibit include Blade Wynne, Jack Niven, Sarah Cusimano
Miles, Raina Benoit, Siodhan McBride, and Courtney Egan.
The Contemporary Art Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday,
with additional hours on Wednesday until 8 p.m. The gallery, as well as the university,
closes at noon on Friday.
