     HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University student Darralann Boudreaux of Ponchatoula was named the Outstanding Student Teacher in Early Childhood Education by the College of Education and Human Development, while Joseph Roberts of Abita Springs was named the Outstanding Student Teacher in Secondary Education.

     Boudreaux and Roberts received their awards at the college's annual honors convocation May 1. They were selected from among four other finalists, Lindsey Simon of Livingston, Kristina Bankston of Hammond, Megan Carpenter of Tickfaw and Kristyn Graham of Marrero.

     The college also recognized Norman James Stafford as its Distinguished Alumnus of the Year. A native of Franklinton, Stafford was a three-year baseball letterman and received his bachelor's degree from Southeastern in 1954. His education career spanned teaching at Fifth Ward Junior High in St. Tammany Parish, to serving as principal for Lacombe Junior High and Franklinton Senior High. He then ascended to positions on the state level, including serving as assistant state superintendent of education for vocational education in the Louisiana Department of Education.

     The college also announced the recipients of departmental honors, scholarships, and grants and new members of the Phi Kappa Phi, Kappa Delta Pi, and Phi Alpha honor societies and Southeastern's own Thirteen Club honor society.

Students receiving departmental honors and scholarships included:

     ABITA SPRINGS – Joseph Roberts, Outstanding Student Teacher Award in Elementary Education.

     ANGIE – Marie Childs, Exemplary Graduate in Secondary Education.

     BATON ROUGE – Braylen Hamilton, Title IV-E Child Welfare Grant Recipient; and Kristen Patterson, Exemplary Graduate in Elementary Education PK-3.

     BOGALUSA – Tonishia Johnson, Title IV-E Child Welfare Grant Recipient.

     DENHAM SPRINGS – Roseanna Atwell, The Laurie Ann Bennett Burns Endowed Scholarship in Family & Consumer Sciences.

     GONZALES – Katie Roach, Outstanding Senior in Social Work and Title IV-E Child Welfare Grant Recipient.

     GREENWELL SPRINGS – Danielle Cixon, Outstanding Senior in Social Studies Education.

     HAMMOND – Jennie Stewart, Outstanding Senior in English Education; David Will Jr., Outstanding Senior in Music Education; Megan Werner, Title IV-E Child Welfare Grant Recipient; Kristina Bankston, nominee, Outstanding Student Teacher Award in Secondary Education.

     HARVEY – Deandrea Taylor, Laurie Ann Bennett Burns Endowed Scholarship in Family and Consumer Science.

     HOUMA – Katie Dufrene, Pyburn Award for Outstanding Senior in Family and Consumer Sciences.

     LAPLACE – Jamie Barcelona, Title IV-E Child Welfare Grant Recipient.

     LORANGER – Jessica Huhn, Exemplary Graduate in Special Education.

     MANDEVILLE – Amanda Hines, Maddox Award for Outstanding Junior in Family and Consumer Sciences; Jane Sabathier-Curry, Title IV-E Child Welfare Grant Recipient.

     MARRERO – Kristyn Graham, nominee for Outstanding Student Teacher in Secondary Education.

     PEARL RIVER – Stephanie M. Floyd, Outstanding Senior in Mathematics Education.

     PONCHATOULA – Darralann Boudreaux, Outstanding Student Teacher in Elementary Education.

     PRAIRIEVILLE – Chelsea Maulden, Louisiana Bachelor Social Work Student of the Year as named by the National Association of Social Workers Louisiana Chapter.

     SLIDELL – Stacy Williams, Title IV-E Child Welfare Grant Recipient.

     TICKFAW – Megan Carpenter, nominee, Outstanding Student Teacher in Secondary Education.

     ZACHARY – Ariel D'Amico, Myra C. Lillard Scholarship in Home Economics; Leah Avellone, Exemplary Graduate in Secondary Education 1-5.
