Southeastern, Hammond Chamber to host workshop on intellectual property and patents

     HAMMOND – The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana University, along with the Hammond Chamber of Commerce, will host a special workshop titled "Intellectual Property and Patents: Turning Ideas into Assets – A Practical Guide to Patents, Copyrights and Trademarks" on Wednesday, July 25, from 9 to 11 a.m.

     The free program will be held at the Southeast Louisiana Business Center in Hammond.

     "This event will provide attendees with legal fundamentals of acquisition of patents copyrights and trademark rights," said Sandy Summers, assistant director of the Southeastern SBDC. "It will also describe the basics of how to protect intellectual property rights and how to avoid or react to other claims of infringement. Presenters will also explain how to take cost effective steps to protect innovations and how to maintain trade secrets while selling innovations."
