HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University's award winning public radio station, 90.9 KSLU, will celebrate five years of Caffe' Italia with a special episode this Sunday, Sept. 16, at 8 p.m.

"Caffe' Italia has spotlighted the music, culture and language of Italy since Dr. Francesco Fiumara brought the show to Southeastern in 2007," said KSLU General Manager Todd Delaney. "Over the years, scores of students have helped produce the show, with several returning to the program even after they graduate to showcase their favorite Italian music."

The five-year anniversary episode features returning Caffe' Italia regulars, Rachael Domiano and Juan Gonzales serving as co-hosts with Fiumara. Domiano, who started working on the show as part of class credit, has become a regular co-host and fill-in for Fiumara when he visits Italy. Gonzales produced a majority of the Caffe' Italia programs, which were syndicated on radio stations in both Middletown, Conn., and Salamanca, Spain.

"Caffe' Italia has proven to be a great educational tool for Southeastern students brushing up on their conversational Italian," Delaney said. "The program also serves to inform listeners about the major impact Italy has had on our local and national cultures."

The fifth anniversary episode of Caffe' Italia airs this Sunday at 8 p.m. on 90.9fm KSLU and can be heard worldwide online at www.kslu.org.
