     HAMMOND --
Southeastern Louisiana University biology major Lacey Sanchez of Baton Rouge has been chosen Miss Southeastern 2010. 
     Sanchez received her crown from Miss Southeastern 2009 Jessica Poumaroux of Baton Rouge at the annual pageant Saturday (Sept. 26) at Southeastern’s Pottle Music Building Auditorium. Sponsored by the Campus Activities Board, the Miss Southeastern pageant is affiliated with the Miss America Pageant system.
     A sophomore, Sanchez also received the SGA Academic Award, a $1,000 scholarship sponsored by the Student Government Association and presented to the pageant contestant with the highest grade point average. Sanchez has a 3.75 gpa. She is the daughter of John and Paula Sanchez.
     First runner up was Kaleigh Aguilar, a junior marketing major from Belle Chase. Brittany Dugas of Covington, a senior organizational communication major, was second runner-up. Dugas was also the pageant’s evening gown segment winner. Third runner up was junior mass communication major Heather Gonzalez of Hammond. 
     Senior communication major Anna deTiege of Mandeville won the interview segment of the pageant, while sophomore communication science and disorders major Lacie Thomas of Denham Springs won the swimwear segment. 
     The talent winner of the evening was Suzy Haslauer, a junior accounting major from Slidell. Haslauer won a $500 scholarship sponsored by the Southeastern Alumni Association for her baritone saxophone performance, “Fudge said the Judge.”
Dynnishea Jones, a senior nursing major from Baton Rouge, was chosen as “Miss Congeniality.” Jones was also honored with the “Miracle Maker” award for her fund-raising efforts in connection with the Miss America Pageant’s charity, the Children’s Miracle Network and with the “People’s Choice” award which was voted on by the people. 
Sanchez will advance to the Miss Louisiana pageant, which will be held in Monroe June 24-26.
