     HAMMOND – Fourteen Southeastern Louisiana University students have been chosen as members of the 2007 Homecoming queen and beau courts. The seven women and seven men will reign over Homecoming festivities Nov. 5-10.

     Chosen as members of the queen’s court were seniors Claire Hebert of Baton Rouge, Johanna Kelly of Chalmette, Shamekia Matthews of Port Allen; junior Ravae Flowers of Westwego, and sophomores Brynn Ballard of Central, Megan Faunce of Loranger, and Brittany Woods of Houma.

     Members of the beau court are seniors Chris Barcelona of Marrero, Michael Kyles Jr. of Baton Rouge, TaByron Tillis of Independence, and Adam T. Watkins of Labadieville; juniors Eric Davis of Baton Rouge and Matt Perrin of Marrero; and sophomore Trevor Simpson of Gonzales.

     The 2007 Homecoming queen and beau, the top junior or senior vote-getters in the recent online campus election, will be announced at halftime of the Homecoming football game when the Lions take on Sam Houston State on Homecoming Day, Nov. 10, at 6 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium.

     The court will also participate in Homecoming festivities such as Gumbo Ya Ya on Nov. 7; the bonfire and pep rally on Nov. 8, and the 2 p.m. Homecoming Day parade.

     Hebert, a general business major, is president of Phi Mu sorority and a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda honor society. She has been named to the President’s and Dean’s honors lists for the past seven semesters. The daughter of Bob and Diane Hebert, she is sweetheart of Phi Mu.

     Kelly, the daughter of Michael and Eileen Kelly, is majoring in accounting and is the sweetheart and president of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She was a 2006 Orientation Leader, a member of the Beta Alpha Psi accounting honor society, a Southeastern Green “S” recipient, and was named to the President’s honors list.

     Matthews, the daughter of Isiah and Diane Matthews, is sweetheart of Delta Sigma Theta sorority. A business technology major, she was a Southeastern African American Achievement Award recipient and is a member of the Black Student Union and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

     Flowers, a nursing major, is sweetheart and member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, where she has been recognized for outstanding community service. The daughter of Darrell and Rhea Flowers, she is a member of the Student Government Association and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

     Ballard, an elementary education major, is the daughter of John and Denise Ballard. She is sweetheart of Gamma Beta Phi honor and service society. She is a member of Alpha Omicron Pi and the Student Government Association, and was named to the President’s honors list.

     Faunce, a social work major, is sweetheart of the Dream Team. The daughter of David and Peggy Fauce, she was voted Miss Congeniality by Alpha Omicron Pi, is a member of Gamma Beta Phi, and was named to the President’s honors list.

     Woods, an early childhood education major, is sweetheart of the Sophomore Class. The daughter of Loretta and Gregory Woods, she is active in the Student Government Association, and is an Orientation Leader. Named to the President’s and Dean’s honors lists, she received the Milas S. Love Award for her grade point average.

     Barcelona, a history major, is the beau of Theta Phi Alpha. He is president of the Southeastern Student Government association and a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He has twice received the Green “S” award and was a 2005 Orientation Leader. He is the son of Chris and Tina Barcelona.

     A social studies education major, Kyles is the son of Michael Kyles Sr. and the late Loretta Kyles. He is beau of the Senior Class and serves as president of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity and the NAACP. He was voted campus Outstanding Man of the Year in 2006.

     Watkins is a human resource management major and is the beau of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and received its President’s Award and is Chief Justice of the Student Government Association. He is the son of Regina Watkins.

     Davis, a health education and community wellness major, is the son of Lanell and Linda Davis. The beau of Omega Psi Phi fraternity, he is an elected member of the SGA President’s Cabinet and was 2006-2007 Roomie-Aide coordinator.

     Perrin is a communication major and beau of the Junior Class. He is a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity and is a sports anchor, producer, reporter and writer for the Southeastern Channel. A President’s List honor student, he is the son of Wade and Sandy Perrin.

     Tillis, an exercise science major, is the son of Catherine and Tyrone Tillis Sr. Beau of Gamma Beta Phi, he is president of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and treasurer of the Pan-Hellenic Council. He has been named to the President’s and Dean’s honor lists.

     Simpson, the son of Cal and Terri Simpson, is majoring in nursing. He is beau of Phi Mu sorority and a member of Delta Tau Delta and the University Mascot Committee. He has been named to the President’s honors list.
