September 16 is final day for students to apply for fall 2013 graduation

The final day for Southeastern students to apply to graduate in fall 2013 is Sept. 16, the university announced today.
The graduation application and payment deadlines will be strictly enforced, university officials said.
Candidates for associate, bachelor, master and doctoral degrees can apply for graduation by logging into their LeoNet campus accounts and choosing the "Self Service, Degree Progress/Graduation, Apply for Graduation" option. Instructions are available on the "Current Students" link at www.southeastern.edu; then click on "Graduation Information – Apply for Graduation" or call Southeastern's Office of the Registrar at 549-2066.
The $35 application fee should be paid directly to the Controller's Office, located on North Campus in the Financial Aid Building.

Chamber Luncheon to be held on campus

The next general meeting of the Hammond Chamber of Commerce is Thursday, Aug. 29, from 12 to 1 p.m. at Twelve Oaks Reception Hall. The doors will open at 11:30 a.m.
Speakers for the meeting are Southeastern's own Interim Athletic Director Jay Artigues and Head Football Coach Ron Roberts. There will also be a Southeastern pep rally with Roomie and the Cheerleaders, a perfect way to celebrate the first home football game that evening as the Lions face Southeast Missouri in Strawberry Stadium.
All Southeastern employees are encouraged to enjoy the benefit of the university's Chamber membership. The cost to attend is $15.

Honors Research Scholars and Creative Scholars

The Honors Program is pleased to offer a new distinction for our undergraduate students who excel in research or creative endeavors.
The Honors Research Scholar and Honors Creative Scholar programs are available to undergraduates who have completed at least 30 hours of coursework, have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and have at least two semesters remaining before graduation. The students must propose a program that will last at least two semesters and that will result in a senior thesis, journal publication, conference presentation, exhibition, or other suitable product. The work must be over and above work required for graduation; i.e., work for a course, senior project, senior thesis, senior exhibition, etc. is not eligible.
If you have a student who is working on a research or creative project and who would like to be recognized for their efforts on their transcript and in the program at Commencement, please direct them to the program information on the web at
http://www.southeastern.edu/acad_research/programs/honors/includes/research_creative_app.pdf or have them contact Dr. Kent Neuerburg in the Honors Office, 103 Meade Hall.

Lion Lagniappe Card now accepted off campus

The Lion's Lagniappe account, which is accessible through the Southeastern ID card for students, faculty and staff, is now being accepted at off campus retail locations for payment.
In addition to being accepted on campus for various purchases, Lion's Lagniappe can now be used just like a debit card at the following Hammond retailers: Smoothie King on University Avenue, both Hammond locations of the Salad Station, Pita Pit, Coop DeVille, Rende's, and Campus Convenience. Also offering the service will be the University Avenue and Thomas Street locations of PJs and CVS Pharmacy in Hammond.
Robin Parker, director of marketing and strategic initiatives for Auxiliary Services, said additional retailers are being signed up to participate. Vendors participating in the program can be identified by a "Lion's Lagniappe Card Accepted Here" sign.
"We have enjoyed great success with the Lion's Lagniappe program on campus at such locations as the University Bookstore, the Document Source, campus dining facilities, the Health Center, the Pennington Student Activity Center and with copy and vending machines," said Parker. "We are excited about being able to offer this convenient service to our students, faculty, and staff at off campus locations as well."
Managing a Lion's Lagniappe account is available online, Parker added.
"Manage My ID is a secure service providing students, faculty and staff with online Lion's Lagniappe account capabilities," she said. "Accounts can be activated at www.southeastern.edu/managemyid."
For additional information on Lion's Lagniappe, contact Pam Hoover, director of Campus Card Operations, at 549-3990 or visit www.southeastern.edu/lagniappe.
