Academic Search Complete-- Indexes, abstracts and provides selected full-text of articles published in scholarly publications from many disciplines.

Dissertations &Theses-- Indexes all doctoral dissertations completed at U. S. accredited institutions since 1861 and selected master's theses and foreign language dissertations; provides abstracts of dissertations since 1981 and 24-page previews of recent dissertations.

ERIC (EBSCO)-- Indexes and abstracts educational journals and unpublished educational materials. Includes the Resource in Education (RIE) file of document citations, the Current Index to Journals in Education (CIJE) file of journal article citations, the ERIC Digest records featuring the full-text of the original document. The EBSCOhost version of ERIC provides links to full-text for some recent journal articles, (EJ). ERIC documents, (ED), published in recent years may be available in a .pdf file through a hyperlink to the ERIC Document Reproduction Services (EDRS) site.

Grove Music-- Provides an electronic version of The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians (2001), The New Grove Dictionary of Opera (1992), and The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz (2002), including updates since the three print editions were published.

The Music Index Online-- Indexes articles, reviews, first performance and obituary information from international music periodicals on a broad range of classical and popular music subjects.

Naxos Music Library-- Provides over 90,000 tracks of classical, jazz contemporary, world/folk, new age, and Chinese music. Includes information on the lives and works of composers, historical information on classical music and opera, a glossary, pronunciation guides, opera synopses and libretti.

Project Muse-- Indexes, abstracts and provides full-text of scholarly journal articles in the fields of literature and criticism, history, the visual and performing arts, cultural studies, education, political science, and gender studies.

RILM Abstracts of Music Literature-- Indexes and abstracts international scholarly journal articles, books, bibliographies, catalogues, dissertations, Festschriften, films and videos, iconographies, critical commentaries to complete works, ethnographic recordings, conference proceedings, and reviews. Provides links to small selection of full-text articles.

WorldCat-- Indexes and provides information on library locations of materials at more than 9,000 worldwide libraries.


Internet Sites

AMG All Music Guide -- A database of biographical and descriptive information on artists, composers, compositions, songs and songwriters representing a variety of music styles, including classical, reggae, rock, and folk. The database includes links to sound recordings, a music glossary, and surveys of music styles.

Aria Database -- A database of texts, translations of MIDI files of operatic arias and ensembles. The database also includes synopses and historical information on the opera, the vocal range of the aria, and links to scores and sound recordings.

Beethoven Bibliography Database -- A project of the Ira F. Brilliant Center for Beethoven Studies, this database contains citations to scores, manuscripts, scores, and journal articles in a variety of languages relating to Ludwig van Beethoven.

Classical Themefinder -- This database contains "tens of thousands" of classical, folk and Renaissance music themes and incipits. The database can be searched by melodic contour, interval, actual or numbered pitch, key, and meter.

Doctoral Dissertations in Music-Online -- A database of over 2,000 international dissertations in the field of music, musicology, music theory, ethnomusicology and other related disciplines.

Internet Resources for Music Scholars -- A directory of scholarly websites and online reference resources collected by the Harvard Eda Kuhn Loeb Music Library.

Lied and Song Texts Page -- A database of texts of art songs, Lieder, choral works, and other classical vocal works.

Public Domain Music -- The website includes lists of music and sound recordings in the public domain. Also included are links to copyright information and resources to assist in researching copyright status.

Sheet Music Collections -- The website created by the Music Library Association that includes links to public access sheet music digitization projects and collections. The collections include a variety of folk, American, popular, and classical music.

Worldwide Internet Music Resources -- An extensive directory of websites in a variety of music disciplines from the Indiana University William and Gayle Cook Music Library.
