Circulation Policies
Government Documents Department
Anyone is welcome to use the government documents collection. However, only the students, faculty, and staff of Southeastern Louisiana University, Friends of the Library, and validated LALINC borrowers are permitted to check out documents.
A valid University, Friends, or LALINC identification card must be presented in order to check out documents.
IN THE GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS DEPARTMENT.
Circulating documents, except for maps, may be checked out for a period of 3 weeks. Maps may be checked out by SLU faculty/staff for a period of 3 days. Circulating documents, including maps, may be renewed up to two times. However, if another patron places a hold on a document while it is checked out, renewal of that title may be denied.
DO NOT return them to the Circulation Desk.
DO NOT place them on a book truck in the Documents Department.
Please hand them to a Documents Department staff member!
Videotapes and Maps may be checked out by SLU faculty/staff ONLY.
The following items CANNOT be checked out:
- Microfiche / Microfilm.
- Annual statistical reports.
- Serials (magazines, journals, etc.).
- Reference materials (includes items shelved on index tables, and some items shelved in the documents stacks).
- Publications with fifteen or fewer pages.
NOTE: Student Staff in the Documents Department are only authorized to check out materials that are stamped "This Item May Be Checked Out." Please ask to see a paraprofessional or the Government Documents Department Head to inquire about checking out other items.
