Distance Learning Library Services are your immediate access to library resources. The goal of these services is to ensure complete and adequate access to information and research material without having to come to campus.
Distance Learning Library Services are available to students who are taking compressed video courses, telecourses, Internet courses or courses at designated Southeastern remote campuses (St. Tammany Center, Baton Rouge Center, Livingston Learning Center) or off-campus sites (Bogalusa, Denham Springs, Franklinton, Mandeville, and others.) |

- Research assistance for class work via e-mail or telephone
- Prompt delivery of books and articles using traditional mail and electronic delivery
- Reference assistance via e-mail or "chat."
- Remote access assistance to library databases for doing your own research at home
- Remote access to full-text electronic books
Connecting from off-campus
- When prompted to log into Sims Library Resources enter your W number for your User ID and your 6-digit birthdate for you PIN.
- See Online Access Help if you encounter problems or receive an error message.
Library Resources available remotely
- The Library Catalog indicates what materials are held by Sims Library and where they are located. The Catalog also provides links to those items that are available electronically.
- Over 71,000 full-text electronic books are available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week through library eBooks.
- Over 90 research databases may be accessed via the Internet. Sims Library has provided and alphabetical list and a subject list of these databases. This icon
denotes those databases that include full text information from journals, magazines, newspapers and reports. To learn more about a database, click on the "About" button.
Obtaining Library materials without coming to campus
- Electronic books and full text articles can be accessed from off-campus by any computer that has an Internet connection.
- You may requests books or copies of articles that are owned by Sims Library by completing the Article Delivery Services Form.
- You may request books or copies of articles that are not owned by Sims Library by completing an Interlibrary Loan request. First time users will need to register, as explained on the website.
Obtaining Library research assistance without coming to campus
- Reference librarians are available to assist you with finding information.
- During library hours, use the toll-free telephone number for assistance, 877-SIM LINE
- Ask a Librarian by phone, e-mail or 24/7 "chat."
- Obtain consultation for your in-depth research needs by phone or e-mail. Contact the Distance Learning Librarian using the online form.
