ingentaconnnect

(document delivery & alerting service)

Gateway access to IngentaConnect will be discontinued on Aug. 1, 2008.

Users will continue to be able to search Ingenta and purchase materials. However, the Library will no longer subsidize Ingenta document delivery.

Interlibrary loan for graduate students and faculty will continue to be subsidized by the Library. If you wish to order articles found in Ingenta, please request the materials through ILLiad, the interlibrary loan system. If you need materials within 48 hours or you require high-quality copies, please indicate your special request in the "Where did you find this item cited?" section of the interlibrary loan form. For more information about interlibrary loan and document delivery services, please contact Karen Jung, Head of Access Services.

For InTouch (Reveal) users that have set up the alerts in Ingenta, many of our current databases and electronic journals have similar email alerting services. For example, RSS feeds and email alerts are available through the databases accessible through Ebsco by setting up a My EbSCOhost account. For more information about email alerting services or for assistance with setting up alerts, please contact Ask A Librarian.

Connect to ingentaconnnect

ingentaconnnect

ingentaconnnect provides access to 11 million articles from 20,000 multi-disciplinary journal publications. Access to publications is provided by fax, within 48 hours, or electronic desktop (or email) delivery. The ingentaconnnect database includes a subject directory of the journals indexed in the database.

Articles under $50.00 ordered by faculty, graduate students, and staff will be subsidized by the Library up to $300 each Fall and Spring semester. (The subsidy level for the Summer semesters is currently under consideration.) Please read the policies below concerning subsidy limits. Undergraduates may search ingentaconnnect, but they must setup a profile and pay for the articles that they order.

InTouch

InTouch (formerly Reveal) is an automated alerting service for Southeastern Louisiana University Faculty, Staff and Graduate Students that delivers the table of contents of your favorite journals directly to your e-mail. It also allows users to create search strategies for their favorite topics.

Library Policies on Ordering Articles Through ingentaconnnect

  • The Library will subsidize the cost of articles ordered by Southeastern faculty and graduate students up to $50 per article, and up to $300 per user each Fall and Spring semester. (The subsidy level for the Summer semesters is currently under consideration.) Users may elect to order additional articles from ingentaconnnectIngenta, but any costs incurred over these limits will be billed to the user.
  • Any user who is nearing the semester limit will be notified of his/her account balance by the Library. If special circumstances warrant extra expenditures for that semester, the user may contact Janie Branham at (985) 549-2186 and ask for extended ordering privileges. The granting of these extended privileges will be made at the discretion of the Library, and unauthorized expenditures over the semester limits will be billed to the user.
  • Users may check their Ingenta account balance at any time by clicking on "Track Orders."
  • Multiple requests for the same article will be charged to the user, regardless of cost.
  • This subsidized service is intended to support the teaching and/or research needs of University faculty, staff, and graduate students. Undergraduate students at Southeastern may search the ingentaconnnect database, but will be required to use a personal credit card to order articles.
