Overview of the program
The Bachelor of Science in Health Studies is designed to prepare graduates of certificate and/or associate degree programs in health care specialties for entry-level management, supervisory, or health education positions. Admission is limited to individuals who are currently enrolled in, or have completed an accredited certificate or associate degree program in a health care specialization (e.g., radiologic technology). The program will provide the junior and senior-level coursework needed for the Bachelor of Science Degree. The length of study will vary based on the student's prior academic experience.
Strengths of the program
- This degree provides a health-care specific bachelor's degree that is designed to add onto associate and certificate programs. It is unique in this regard for Southeastern and the region.
- The Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies at Southeastern is one of the largest department of its type in Louisiana, with over 600 undergraduate majors, and offers a variety of degree programs in the diverse field of Health and Kinesiology.
- Faculty in the department are nationally-recognized scholars with strong records of publication. Students have opportunities to assist in ongoing research as well as engage in undergraduate research projects.
