Overview of the program
The overall educational objective of the Supply Chain Management undergraduate degree program is to provide students with a conceptual foundation in Supply Chain Management and its disciplines of: Marketing, Operations Management and Information Systems. The multi-discipline program is intended to provide the skill bases necessary to build successful careers in industry or to succeed in graduate school.
Concentrations
Supply Chain Management majors may choose a general concentration in the program, or choose to concentrate in Information Systems. Both paths lead to the Bachelor of Science degree.
Strengths of the program
- Supply Chain Management faculty are recognized for their pursuit of excellence in teaching and research. Dr. Michael Jones is the recent recipient of Southeastern Louisiana University's Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Barb Schuldt has been awarded the Paul B. Candies Distinguished Professorship in Management for excellence in research.
- Department faculty maintain close ties with industry and employ present-day case tools to emphasize practical learning. Past projects include: a database management system for the Tangi Food Pantry, and student research projects for Ragan & Massey Distribution.
- The College of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB).
Preparing for a job in the program
Students hoping to pursue a career in marketing should:
- Develop good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Participate in the internship program.
- Participate in the student chapter of the Institute for Supply Management
