Overview of the program


The overall educational objective of the Visual Arts undergraduate program is to provide students with a foundation in the visual arts and the skill base necessary to build a career in an art related industry.

Concentrations


A concentration is the specialization in one area of the degree program. The concentrations offered in the Bachelor of Arts in Art degree program include:

  • Studio Art: 
       Drawing
   Painting
   Ceramics
   Photography
   Printmaking
   Sculpture
  • Digital Art:
       Animation
       Film
  • Digital Design 


Strengths of the program


Visual Arts continues to develop academic programs and out reach activities, and faculty continue to be innovated, scholarly, and serve the university and community.

 

  • Faculty has received honors and awards for exhibitions and lectures throughout the United Sates. 
  • Department houses one of largest and best equipped computer labs in the state. 
  • Outstanding labs in areas of ceramics, photography, and sculpture.

Preparing for a job in the program


In preparing for a job, students should:

  • Develop a professional body of work. 
  • Gain experience through internships. 
  • Focus on a particular area of art and develop competency through course work.
