Daniel McCarthy
Dean, College of Science and Technology
“Science and technology have grown increasingly important to our state’s future. Here in the Florida Parishes, we are surrounded by some of the best-prepared students in the state, so we need to provide them with the best opportunities. That means combining a high level of academic rigor in our programs with lots of opportunities for students … educational opportunities, research opportunities, employment opportunities. In the College of Science and Technology, we have top-notch scientists, mathematicians, and technologists who can serve as an amazing resource, not just for our students but also for the region as a whole. We would like to see a greater awareness and increasing of science literacy among the public by working very closely with area schools. I think we can distinguish ourselves as being among the absolute best for individuals seriously interested in science or a pre-professional program. We are committed to doing that better than anyone in the state.”
