      Mr. Chuck Billiot, Photographer and Owner of Billiot Photography and Video in Mandeville, will be teaching beginner and intermediate photography courses and Photoshop for photographers.


      Chuck’s "dare to be unique" approach to photography and videography has won him critical acclaim from his peers as well as several awards from the Greater New Orleans Professional Photographer’s Guild (GNOPPG). Chuck has been shooting professionally, since 1978.

      This class will cover the basic of digital photography and different between point and shoot vs. SLR.  The course will also cover equipment settings, resolution, zoom, and white balance.  Additionally, Mr. Billiot will cover print options, digital settings, loading images onto the computer, and uploading images to various web sites.  Students will also be exposed to techniques, including lighting, natural posing, and composition (framing).  The student should only need to know how to point and shoot.  There are no prerequisites required for this course.

      Examine color workflow.  Calibrate the monitor and use color management profiles to control the image display to match its intended output.  Use the advanced image support features available in Photoshop CS4.  Eliminate dust and scratches, suppress moiré patterns, and correct red eye defect in images.  Perform image color correction.  Choose the settings and adjustments based on specific image and printing conditions to create high quality CMYK separations for commercial printing.  Sharpen an image without intensifying or accentuating noise and other defects.  Convert color images to grayscale and add spot colors to them.

         GMAT Test Prep Course - Postponed until new dates become available.This course is being re-designed to help students prepare for the GMAT. This is an instructor lead course. Students will receive assignments to work on outside of class.  Students should be prepared to take a preassessment of skills to determine if they have the prerequisite skills to be successful in the class.  Supplemental materials will be available before the start of class to ensure students are able to derive the most from the classroom instruction.  Simulated GMAT practice testing will be required both in class and outside of class.

       

      The course will cover the three main parts of the GMAT Test: Analytical Writing Assessment, Quantitative and Verbal. Students will also practice the simple steps to writing a quality analysis including: organizing, developing and presenting your ideas, and providing relevant and supporting details. Math skills including Algebra, Geometry, and data sufficiency problems will also be reviewed.  The verbal prep section will review reading for comprehension, proper grammar, sentence structure, and critical reasoning.

      In addition, test taking strategies such as: eliminating the wrong answer, how to guess and how much time to spend on each question will be covered.  Practice tests will be administered to provide areas of focus for students. 

       

      Required Book: The Official Guide for GMAT Review, 12th Edition.  The books as well as the GMAT practice questions are requirements in order to be prepared for the test. 

      *The cost of the book, The Official Guide for GMAT Review, 12th Edition, is included in the registration fee, if registered for all modules and full payment is received two weeks prior to the start date of the first class.

      Notarial Review Course

       

      ronda gabb

      Ronda M. Gabb founded the law firm of Ronda M. Gabb & Associates, LLC “A Louisiana Estate Planning & Elder Law Practice”, with offices in Mandeville and Metairie.  Ronda often lectures to professional and community groups regarding estate planning and edler law.  Her law practice is entirely devoted to Estate Planning, including Wills, Trusts, Successions and Administrations, Elder Law, Medicaid, Special Needs and Life Care Planning issues.  Ronda graduated from Tulane Law School and is presently working on her LL.M. in Taxation.

       

      Ronda is a Board Certified Estate Planning and Administration Specialist through the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization.  She is also a member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Governor’s Elder Law Task Force, and the Northshore Estate Planning Council.

       

      Notarial Course Review

      This Course is designed to prepare students for the notarial exam scheduled for December 5, 2009.  The course topics include: duties of a notary, contracts, juridical acts, donations and sales, wills, miscellaneous acts, and more.  The course will begin on Tuesday evening, August 25th at 6:30pm.  Classes will continue each Tuesday evening (6:30pm-9:00pm) until December 1, 2009.  The exam will be given on Saturday, December 5, 2009.  Registration for the course is $575.  Books are approximately $250 and are in addition to the registration fee.  Students are responsible for ordering their books prior to the beginning of class.  Once registered, students will be sent information about ordering their books.

      Fran Norwood, MBA, SPHR
      Dr. Norwood is a seasoned business professional with expertise in both large and small business organizations and in educational settings.  She has managed department sizes with as many as 30 employees.  Her work experience includes both international and domestic business organizations.  She is a champion for values-based leadership.


      She earned her MBA in 2008 from Walden University.  She holds a Ph.D. from LSU.  In 2005 Dr. Norwood was awarded her Senior Professional Human Resource (SPHR) certification.


      Dr. Norwood is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management and is an active board member for the Northshore Region Human Resource Association. She is also an active member of the Professional Women of St. Tammany. She owns WAGNOR People Performance Solutions LLC, a consulting business specializing in enhancing an organization’s people skills resulting in an effective and efficient workforce increasing employee satisfaction and productivity.  She teaches part-time for Southeastern Louisiana University and Delgado Community College.  She co-owns doggie DIVAS Walking Service (stay-at-home pet care) with her sister.
