A Message from the President
April 25, 2012 - The Revenue Estimating Conference
The Revenue Estimating Conference -- which decides how much money the state can spend -- met and revised the state’s financial forecast last night. It made an official reduction of $211 million for the current fiscal year that ends June 30. Additionally, it dropped revenue projections by $304 million for next fiscal year’s budget, which is currently being crafted by Legislators.
Of course, this development raises concerns about additional budget reductions for Southeastern and the rest of higher education.
I have been communicating with our Legislative Delegation on this and other matters of importance to Southeastern, and I will continue to keep the campus apprised of details as they emerge.
