Project PULL Mentoring Program
Project PULL (Promoting Unity through Leadership & Learning)
is a program that enhances the educational experience for freshmen through mentoring, leadership development, service and fun activities.
African American Achievement Awards
During the Spring, African-American students are recognized for their outstanding achievements in academics, athletics, community service, and leadership.
Black History Month
February is Black History Month and Southeastern recognizes the contribution of African Americans both past and present with a month long celebration of art, music, lectures, and entertainment.
Let’s Get It Started
Let’s Get It Started is a welcoming ceremony for first year students and a welcome back social for returning students held in September. This program allows students to get a glimpse of what student organizations have to offer as well as enjoy performances by various student groups.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Remembrance Program
In recognition of the life and contributions of Dr. King, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. sponsors a ceremony to pay tribute on the Wednesday after the King Holiday.
Minority Leadership Day
In corporation with the Office of Admissions, Multicultural Affairs co-hosts a day at Southeastern for minority high school students with emphasis on leadership development.
Minority Seminar
A component of the University's New Student Orientation Program, this seminar acquaints new ethnic minority students with specific services and introduces them to upper class mentors.
Multicultural Holiday Celebration
A potluck holiday meal in early December with members of all minority student groups unifying for an end of the semester meal. Typically, there are performances by the Lady Cubs Dance Team, the Gospel Choir, and presentations by several student groups.
Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference
During the Spring, Multicultural Affairs takes a group of student leaders to College Station, Texas for the annual SBSLC conference. The conference encompasses history, self-improvement techniques, leadership and networking skills, values clarification and corporate America to inspire and motivate the intellect of young Black collegians to be productive leaders of tomorrow.
