A cooperative endeavor with Livingston Parish School System

Welcome to the Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center! 

The Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center’s goal is to improve the level of education and quality of life for the citizens of Livingston Parish. Through the center’s programs, adults and children will attain long-term economic benefits associated with improved education; become more comfortable with reading, writing, math, science, and technology; and become better informed on environmental issues in modern society.

Funded by a $4.5 million judgment in the federal environmental class action suit known as Combustion, Inc., the 39,000 square foot facility opened in Walker, La., in fall 2005. This new cooperative venture further strengthens Southeastern’s long-standing successful relationship with the Livingston Parish School System and the citizens of Livingston Parish.

Southeastern is proud to partner with the Livingston Parish School System to offer a variety of educational programs.  

What can you do at the Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center?

1. Take Southeastern Courses in Livingston Parish - many of Southeastern's Core Curriculum classes are available at the Livingston Cetner.  Approximately 600 students attend classes ranging from Theatre to Chemistry. Summer 2009 Course List.  Fall 2009 Course List.

1. Enjoy our Convenient Location - The Center is conveniently located in Walker, Louisiana on LA Highway 190. Click here for directions.
2. Benefit from our Excellent Facilities - The Livingston Center offers a free wireless environment and has a total of 11 classrooms.  The 11 classrooms include a computer lab, biology lab and chemistry lab.  All Classrooms are equipped with instructor computer projection systems.
3. Community Music School - The Livingston Center offers private and group music lessons through Southeastern's Community Music School.  Guitar Lessons, Voice Lessons, Piano Lessons, and Strings for Pre-k through adults ages.  For More information please contact Southeastern's Community Music School. 
4. Community Education - Non-credit and leisure classes are also offered in the evening.
