Welcome to the Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center!

Southeastern is proud to partner with the Livingston Parish School System to offer a variety of educational programs at the 39,000 square foot Livingston Center, located in Walker, Louisiana. The center is a unique cooperative project between Southeastern Louisiana University and Livingston Parish School System, representing a partnership and vision to improve the education, economy and quality of live for Livingston Parish residents.  The center is equipped with a distance learning center; conference room; lecture hall; general use classrooms; biology lab; chemistry lab; computer labs; and automotive shop.

Inspiration for the center originated during the class action suit know as Combustion, Inc. District Judge Richard T. Haik, Sr. ordered $4.5 million dollars to be used for construction and operation of the center. Livingston Parish School Board pledged an additional $1 million to support the project. Champions for the project include District Judge Richard T. Haik, Sr., President of Louisiana University System- Dr. Sally Clausen, Southeastern President- Dr. Randy Moffett, Warren Curtis, Calvin C. Fayard Jr. and Rogers Pope.

Over the years, Southeastern and Livingston Parish Schools have demonstrated a successful partnership in raising the level of education through its Developmental Pilot Program matching selected principals and teachers.  Today, the Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center is evidence that Southeastern and Livingston Parish are committed to this relationship and improving the level of education in Livingston Parish.
