Update your Spring Information
SPRING 2010 INTENT PROCESS
As you know the contract you submitted for housing privileges is a binding contract for the academic year (fall–spring). However, we do need to know your intentions for the upcoming semester (spring 2010). The link http://www.selu.edu/admin/housing/intent/ will bring you to University Housing’s Residential Intent Update page. On this page you are to make the appropriate selection that applies to you for the spring 2010 semester. Some important facts you should take into consideration are:
• Room assignments cannot be guaranteed.
• Roommate preferences will only be honored, if possible, when there is a mutual request from both/all parties.
• The deadline for intent updates is November 30, 2009.
• Changes to intent updates, if necessary must be done in person in the housing office before December 7, 2009.
• Approved room changes for the spring 2010 semester must be completed during the dates of January 7 and 8, 2010. You will be informed before these dates, via email, if your room change has been approved.
• Students who chose to cancel housing will be assessed a $750.00 agreement cancellation penalty and will be required to submit a new application and processing fee along with fees if they decide to return to housing at a future time.
HOW CAN I BE RELEASED FROM MY HOUSING AGREEMENT AT THE END OF THE FALL SEMESTER?
Current residents may submit a request to be released from their housing agreement anytime during the fall semester on or before Friday, December 4, 2009. A cancellation fee will not be assessed to students who provide documentation and a valid reason for not being able to fulfill their housing commitment during the spring semester (ex. Military service, personal illness, marital status or not enrolled at Southeastern). A cancellation fee of $750.00 will be assessed to all other cancellation requests. All students canceling their housing agreement for the spring semester must be properly checked out of their residence hall room with their R.A. on or before Friday, December 11, 2009. Failure to check out of a canceled assignment by the December 11th deadline will result in further administrative action, a $250.00 improper check out fine, and the Department of University Housing reserves the right to remove your belongings (store them for not more than two weeks) and charge you for all expenses incurred during this process. The University will not be responsible for damage or loss of your property.
ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY AND APPEAL INFORMATION
In order to remain in University Housing for the spring 2010 semester, students must maintain a 2.0 overall GPA or 2.0 on 12 hours or more during the fall 2009 semester. Students who fail to meet this requirement may submit a University Housing Academic Appeal form to the University Housing Office or on-line.
University Housing Academic Appeal must be submitted by Wednesday, December 16, 2009. Appeals will not be accepted after deadlines.
If the appeal is denied, the student will be notified and encouraged to check-out of the residence hall the Friday, December 18, 2009 with a RA. If you choose to check-out January 4th or 5th you will be required to express check-out and will not be allowed to contest any damages in your room. If the student does not properly check-out of their room as required, the student may be fined $250.000 and their property removed at their expense and stored for not more than two weeks.
