Helpful Tips For Middle School Students

Southeastern Lion Logo

It's never too early to start thinking about college!

Preparing for college takes planning and organization.  It is important to decide what kind of higher institution you'd like to attend and what program you'd like to study.  You also have to plan how your education is financed- that's where financial aid comes in!

While you're in middle school, you may begin to consider different colleges and programs.  When doing this, make sure to take into account your interests, goals, personality, and the qualities you are looking for in a school.  This way you can attend the perfect college for you!

  1. Do you prefer being on a large campus?
  2. Do you prefer to stay close to home?
  3. What programs are available?
  4. Does cost have a part to play?

What is the FAFSA?

FAFSA stands for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.  This is your application for financial aid.  It may be completed on-line.  It must be renewed each academic year in which you would like to receive aid.  The FAFSA takes into consideration your family size, income, and the number in college when determining aid eligibility.  You can use the FAFSA4caster as a guide until you are ready to apply!
