Do I have to purchase a Meal Plan?
All students who live in the residence halls are required to purchase a meal plan. See the Meal Plan section for details about your options.
Why is a Meal Plan required for residence hall students?
The residence halls do not come equipped with a kitchen. The University takes pride in providing its students with healthy dining choices that will provide nutrition and energy throughout the day.
How do I choose the best meal plan?
Everyone has different dining habits - that's why we offer a variety of Meal Plan options. The first thing to do is determine the number of meals and snacks you eat each week. Then decide how often you would like to eat in the all-you-can-eat Cayman Cafe. Finally, choose the Meal Plan that most adequately meets those needs.
I have a Meal Plan. Why are there times during the day that I can't use my Declining Balance Dollars at the Lion's Den and Subway?
The Blackout Period at the Lion's Den and Subway keeps the costs of meal plans down and alleviates over-crowding during peak periods. Grab-and-go meals are available at Roomie's, Java City and Chic-fil-A and none of these dining facilities have blackout periods.
Do unused meals carry over to the following week?
No. Based on your schedule and eating habits, you should select the meal plan that is best for you in ensuring that you get the full value for your dollars.
Do unused meals carry over to the following semester?
No. Any unused meals at the end of a semester will be forfeited. Therefore, it is important that you use the meals that you have purchased.
Do my Declining Balance Dollars carry over to the following semester?

Can I treat a friend or family member by using my Dining Membership?
It depends. The all-you-can-eat meals at Cayman Cafe are only for your use and you may use only one meal per meal period. However, if you would like to treat a friend or family member, you can use your Declining Balance Dollars at any campus dining location.
What do I do if my Declining Balance starts to run low?
