Welcome to the University Counseling Center (UCC) at Southeastern Louisiana University. We provide free mental health counseling services to students, faculty, and staff. Staffed by licensed mental health professionals as well as master's level interns, the UCC offers individual counseling, group counseling, couples counseling, and family counseling as well as workshops and consultation. The University Counseling Center is accredited by IACS, the International Association of Counseling Services.
Our goal is to facilitate self-understanding and empowerment for all clients. To this end, we strive to assist clients in identifying and then resolving those challenges that impact their lives.
We believe that counseling can help individuals learn about themselves, their environment, and their methods of handling roles and relationships. Through counseling, clients will have the support of a counselor as well as the freedom and the opportunity to determine how they wish to resolve the challenges facing them.
Counseling is confidential. However, we are legally bound to report potential suicide, homicide and suspected child/elder abuse. The staff adheres to the American Counseling Association's ethical guidelines (www.counseling.org).
The University Counseling Center does not provide counseling through email or other electronic means.
Our Mission Statement
The mission of the University Counseling Center is to facilitate self-understanding and empowerment for clients through mental health counseling and programming, and to provide best practices in training for graduate students in the human services field, thus contributing to the functioning of each individual who comes into contact with the Center so that he/she may achieve the maximum benefit of all that Southeastern offers.
