Fall 2009/Spring 2010 Tuition and Fee Updates
Tuition and Fees
The legislature and the University of Louisiana System (ULS) Board have approved increases in tuition and fees which will assist Southeastern and other universities in retaining outstanding faculty, maintaining quality academic programs, providing scholarships to our students, and continuing to improve technology. There will be a 5% increase in undergraduate and graduate tuition. Graduate tuition will also include an additional $30 per credit hour increase. Current Rates>>
As directed by the Legislature, Southeastern has also made provisions for students with demonstrated financial hardship brought about as a result of such fee increases through the establishment of a Hardship Waiver. More>>
Housing
In order for the University to meet the financial obligations that were established when building the new housing facilities for our students, a 3% increase in Housing rates has been implemented for the Fall 2009/Spring 2010 semesters. Current Rates>>
Meal Plans
Meal Plans for the Fall 2009/Spring 2010 semesters will increase by 4.8%. This increase is supported by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) which means that the increase is consistent with the average increases associated with food costs over the course of the past year.

Energy Surcharge
A utility surcharge was approved by the Louisiana Board of Regents in August 2001 to address the increasing cost of utilities. This fee has only been collected by the University when absolutely necessary; however, due to the rise in utility costs since August 2001, the University will assess this fee for the Fall 2009/Spring 2010 semesters. The fee is $3.50 per credit hour, up to a maximum of $42.00 per semester (12 hours or more). We will continue to monitor the energy situation and assess the need to collect this fee in the future.
