Frequently Asked Questions

Admissions FAQ

Can I be admitted to Southeastern even if I have to take developmental courses?
In order for students to be fully admitted to Southeastern, they must have no more than one developmental requirement. Students who do not meet all stated criteria may be admitted on an individual basis or may be admissible through an alternate path. Therefore, we strongly encourage all students to apply and to do so as early as possible.

I'm concerned that I will not meet Southeastern's admission standards. What should I do?
Apply! The decision to admit you will be based on your potential for successfully completing a degree. Each applicant in this category will be considered on an individual basis. Some factors that may be taken into consideration will include leadership qualities, creative talents or special skills, life experiences or other evidence that you have the ability to succeed. Be sure to apply early to allow enough time for the review process to be completed!

I am thinking about transferring to Southeastern. How will Southeastern's admission standards affect me?
If you are transferring with less than 12 hours of college credit, you must meet the same standards as an entering freshman. If you have 12 hours or more, you must have at least a 2.0 grade point average on all transfer work, or must be in good academic standing according to Southeastern standards. You also must be eligible to re-enter the institution from which you are transferring.

I understand Southeastern teaches courses on other campuses besides the main campus in Hammond. Where are they located?
Southeastern teaches courses in Hammond, Baton Rouge, Denham Springs, Walker, Bogalusa, Covington, Mandeville, Slidell, Metairie and Reserve.
