Southeastern Louisiana University is proud to offer a series of exciting career workshops for junior high and high school students. In our hands-on courses, participants explore a career and gain knowledge of the competencies required to succeed in their field of interest. These summer workshops will introduce students to career opportunities available in Louisiana and compatible higher education programs within Southeastern’s college curriculum.

Get a taste for a career in the Culinary Arts! Do you see yourself preparing interesting and exotic foods on a network food show, or in your own restaurant?

Are you ready to create and design the next great idea? Sketch your original invention into 3D using the new and powerful modeling software, Autodesk Inventor.

Do you want to capture every moment? Your talents with a camera can lead you to a career in photography. Enhance your skills in shooting, lighting, composition, and more.

Do you envision being part of a television or video broadcast team? Take action and learn every aspect of television including writing, producing, anchoring, film editing, and camera operation.

|
Do you imagine yourself on stage? Perhaps your dream is to write screenplays? Here is a chance to work in Southeastern's Vonnie Bordon Theatre with professionals and learn what it takes to create a play. This workshop will end with a short performance showcasing the students' talent!

Do you see yourself in an innovative digital career in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field? If you do, you might be able to become part of a brand new sector of the workforce called the digital engineer. Digital engineers combine IT knowledge with specific engineering knowledge to develop high-tech solutions to engineering problems.

Our workshops are hands-on, using the latest technology in our specialized labs to create an interactive experience. We also incorporate a team component to simulate the dynamics of a real work environment. Friends and family will be invited on the last day to view the new skills participants have acquired. The overnight option in the dorms on Southeastern's main campus is offered to high school students in workshops on the main campus only.
