Speaker Series and Sponsored Events
A Southeastern Writer's Forum
In maintaining our rich tradition of scholarship at Southeastern, the Southeastern Writing Center hosts prominent writers, lecturers, and educators to speak at an annual series of readings, discussions, workshops, and educational forums. Each event focuses on writing and/or literature, encouraging lively interaction and dialogue. Past events have included such people as storyteller Angela Davis, "the Yarnspinner"; internationally reknown Kenyan writer Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o, author of Wizard of the Crow; and playwright, educator, actor, rapper, and composer Will Power. These events contribute to developing a culture of writing beneficial to students across the curriculum, as well as the regional community. Announcements of presentations are posted around campus and inside the Writing Center.
