The Southeastern Writing Center

From the Director

Dr. Jayetta Slawson, Director

Welcome to the Southeastern Writing Center.

We are a peer consultation and resource center dedicated to the writing needs, interests, and concerns of students. We are staffed by graduate assistants, Supplemental Instruction Leaders, and work study students who are committed to promoting excellence in writing across Southeastern Louisiana University's curriculum. In our pursuit of developing and celebrating a culture of writing, the Writing Center delivers a full range of services including one-on-one tutoring sessions, writing workshops, a speaker series, instructional handouts and resources, sponsored readings and discussions, traditional print and online publications, and computer assistance. We keep a monthly schedule of events posted on the bulletin board outside the Center, DVIC 383.

Faculty members are welcome to schedule orientations for their classes. Students are encouraged to look over the bios of our staff members and to make an appointment to meet with one of them. There is no charge for the services we offer beyond the tuition students pay each semester. Please feel free to drop by, say hello, and grab a cup of coffee.

We hope to see you soon!

Best,

Jayetta Slawson, Ph.D.
