Gambit

A Living Arts Journal

Gambit is a creative writing journal published annually by the English Department and the Writing Center. Since 1960, Gambit has showcased some of the best of Southeastern's creative writing community in three genres: fiction, poetry, and drama. In Fall 2009, Gambit will launch a creative online version, Gambit Online, which will publish fiction, poetry, drama, art, music, and video shorts, with an emphasis on hypermedia and audience interaction.

Submissions are received year-round.  On submission, all work is subject to peer review, with individual student editors representing each genre judging for quality, content, originality, and creativity.  Students whose written works are conditionally accepted may be required to meet with an editor to discuss necessary revisions prior to publication.  Visit the Call for Submissions page for submission guidelines and forms.

The responsibility for the selection and editing of all content, as well as any necessary grammatical and mechanical changes, is assumed by the editors.  All editors are  appointed by the director of the Southeastern Writing Center.  Editorial advice, financial management, and production assistance are provided by the Southeastern Louisiana University Department of English, Dr. David C. Hanson (department head), and the Southeastern Writing Center. Visit the Editorial Staff page to meet the people behind the publication.
